How To: Change VTEC Solenoid Gasket

I know, I know, this is a very simple DIYer project but atleast I got details picture for those new people who want to know what to do..Think of this as my very, very, very small contribution no necarclub...anyway, here goes.

Many of us have a similar oil leak problem..Most fixed the problem by replacing: Distributor O-ring, valve cover gasket, and vtec solenoid gasket..this is a step by step for the vtec solenoid gasket..

Car done on: 97 GS-R with 97k ish miles

1. DISCONNECT the Neg. battery terminal..it's good practice when dealing with electrical..
2. Tools u'll need

2b. get the correct part..look at the picture



3. PLACE a Rag or towel under the solenoid to catch some oil that will leak out.
Now remove 3 10mm socket screws.


4. the solenoid look like this



5. old and new gasket



6. Clean it out


6b. cap p/n if u want it


7. Put everything back


DONE!! simple..actually VERY SIMPLE..!!
