Engine Rebuild

About how much would it be for a complete B18a1 engine rebuild?
im sick of my crappy engine, and would like to just pull it out, mabye even work a b16 or a gsr head on to it.
Bowers, i know you have some kind of experience in this, so id like your opinion.
Also, id like just a few people with experience to help me, instead of me taking it to a shop.

It all depends on how you want to build the motor and what you plan on using it for. How many miles are on your A1?

He's already got the b18a1 though, might as well build it. If you want to go LS/Vtec and do it the correct way without just slapping a B-series head on to your short block is going to cost a little. PM me for more info on that or see my LS/Vtec write up. But for the price of a good LS/vtec build you could do a engine rebuild and go turbo and make more power...unless you want to stay N/A.

meh 127ft/lbs of torque to 133ft/lbs not going to have too much fun lol, unless you swap intakes and go with a b20z they don't flow worth a shit though.

and yeah, both ls/vtec and turbo sound good, but both seem so damn expensive lol.

id like just to get it tuned, and ported and polished, that kinda stuff.

yeah, your going to need it out anyway if you want to rebuild it and do some head work.

All depends, I'm free all of this week but if I get my new job I'll only be free on Sundays and Mondays. Do you have another car to drive while this is being done? If you wanted I could also take the motor home and work on it from there...do you know what you want to do with it or how much you want to spend?

yeah i have another car thank god.
the rex has been sitting in the garage all winter with occasional driving.
if just a rebuild and a port and polish is under 300 bucks, thatd be great.
im all free most everyday this week.

All depends on the condition of the block and head, all price some stuff up tonight. Do you want all oem parts used?

id like a few after market parts, it doesnt matter what really. im not picky. i just dont have a whole lot of money. ill let you pretty much do whatever to my engine and ill pay for it lol.

I'll have to take a look at it, if you don't have a whole lot of cash a full rebuild will be out of the question. If we do a leak down and compression test and the numbers come back good we can mod it from there with some stuff if you like.
